Is Fitomize coaching right for me?

With 20 years of training as a coach, a mentor, a leader and an athlete as well teaching courses on the subject, I want to work with select clients whom I’m best suited to help.

Who is that person? Anyone who is willing and wanting to move their body. In particular, if you’ve been inactive for a while, recovering from surgery and/or injury, don’t know where to start, or simply unhappy that you let yourself get this bad or had a recent health scare. 

You take care of everyone else’s needs and don’t have enough energy for yourself.

You want to live a long full life but don’t have the time to think about it.

You need SIMPLE solutions to fight aging, have a healthy sex life and avoid feeling stuck.

You have some self-motivation and self-discipline to change your story.

Ready to take ownership of your life, and enjoy (or at least try) the process at the same time!

What is trauma?

Trauma is an experience of threat, disconnection, isolation or immobilization that results in chronic dysregulation of your nervous system, endocrine system, emotional body, immune system, your circulatory system and your spirit if you’re in a non-optimal state long term then there is some type of trauma to look at. 

By that definition I would speculate that everyone has experienced trauma. Most people think trauma as physical. But, in this context it’s not jus some aggressive, physical injury. 

Trauma is a vast topic that depending on your race, gender, ethnicity, sexual orientation, each persons trauma is unique. 

What is virtual/online coaching?

Online training is a way for anyone, anywhere to have access to an expert coach offering convenience, responsiveness, flexibility, and affordability

It’s great for people who lead busy, hectic lifestyles, those who are technologically savvy, and those who hate the gym but want an accountability partner 24/7.

The results you get online are almost identical to in-person training, and in some cases better. It comes down to the individual trainer’s skill set – not all trainers are created equal. It’s far more cost-effective and more flexible than personal training.

Online personal training is the wild west of fitness right now. It’s imperative you do your research. You need to find a trainer that is reputable and can explain to you clearly how they work with people online. If you decide online training is right for you, research your trainer extensively. Look for their qualifications, experience, and the quality of the work they do. Look for their methodologies – do they have a proven system? If not, they are more often than not flying by the seat of their pants.

If you prefer face-to-face contact and real human interaction, online training isn’t for you. If you struggle with self-motivation, online training can prove to be problematic.  This is not for people with a complicated history of injuries. You need to be medically cleared by a professional, and even then online-training can be the wrong choice. 

That being said Julie does have an extensive history of working with people with injuries and is one of the only only online personal trainers who has the ability to work with you to recover from your injuries through her customized app. 

What are the Pros and Cons to Private Training

Working out can be intimidating. It’s normal to have goals and be unsure how to achieve them, and it’s completely normal to lack motivation at times. A personal trainer can help you overcome your obstacles and take you to new heights on your fitness journey. While personal trainers may seem intimidating and expensive at first glance, in reality that’s not the case.

Do you provide nutrition plans?

I am not a nutritionist or a dietician and it is out of my scope of practice to provide you a specific meal plan. In fact, it is actually illegal for any personal trainer to give you a meal plan who is not a certified nutritionist or dietician. That said, I do provide guidelines for you to improve your diet which focuses on removing inflammation as well as finding the correct combination of calories and macronutrients to help you achieve your goals. 

How often should I see you per week?

Short answer; it depends. It will depend on your situation, ability and goals. The range current private in person clients is 1-3 times per week. Virtual clients see me 2-4x per week for 30 minutes. They do the warm-up on their own. 

What should I expect on my first session?

Your first session with me is typically a full movement assessment unless you are are in acute pain then we will work together to manage that pain and then do the assessment. We need to establish as baseline of movement that covers the 7 primal movements as well as identify if you have upper and/or lower cross posture. I try to help you understand what is happening with your body so that you understand how we will proceed. It is important that you understand that your movements or lack of are signs of a check engine light. I help you assess what the light means and empower you with the tools you need to keep that light off and living your best life.

Short answer. It depends. Consider these questions to help you know which options is best for you. How much do you want to pay? How much instruction do you need? What other qualified trainers are in your area that will provide the same expertise as Julie? What motivates you? What’s your schedule like?

Best option would be for you to come see me for private training. However, if you are on a strict budget we can chat about your needs and come up with a plan for you. 

What are the Pros and Cons to using the Fitomize App?

This is a great option for all fitness levels. If you value a more intelligent approach to training and you’re stuck for cash, this can be a wise move.

For those who want a more personal touch and are seeking real results on a budget, custom training programs can be the best choice for intermediate and advanced fitness enthusiasts. If you are self-motivated and just need some help and guidance to get you closer to your actual goals. This is a perfect starting point for personalized coaching and is ideal for anyone who is looking for the skills and knowledge of a personal trainer without the hefty price tag.

There is a lack of an accountability partner provided by a full-time coach. While these custom programs do go some way towards addressing individual needs, we often see people get off track, but the results can be good if the program is adhered to.
